The Chicago Problem.....

I was born in chicago, spent a portion of my youth on 83rd street. We moved, because my family wanted to get away from drugs, and the warfare that is my city. Watching this video, I was hit first by sadness at the brutality and the stupidity of it all. As information trickles down and you find that the kid was an honor roll student who's life was taken for what?! This is Chicago M.O though, we've lost alot of lives in this city for nothing. The price doesn't add up. I'm grateful that my little sister and cousin go to Rich South because I couldn't stand to be watching them on this tape. But that's the point, their a million families out here hoping that its not their kid on that tape because IT CAN BE. Imagine not being able to walk out your house or to school or just around freely because at any moment your life can be taken from you. For what?! Because stupidity and ignorance and hate is all some of these kids know. and its sad as fuck. and wrong. fuck the olympics daily. Put that money on education so these kids can get more knowledge than Gucci man music. So that maybe we can have more schools and a better system that does more than babysit these kids for a few hours. Put money towards cops so the next this shit occurs theirs more than 2 cops sitting around watching a little kid get killed. Somethings got to give. We've been losing lives like this at a rapidly alarming rate for a while. How many fucking RIP T-shirts and funerals will it take to wake people up. I feel bad because this is a whole generation. lost. Sometimes we look this shit over because we know individually isn't shit that we can do. Sometimes we turn on the news and catch a glimpse at the modern day Emmit Tills, except its not white people who's doing the killing. Its US killing ourselves. We destroy ourselves while the world watches like its a sick TV show. Its fucking sad man.

Good Shoes......

The distance can kill you.
Between what your headed towards.
and what you've left behind.
Lost more then your mind.
On this journey with no certain destination.
But still.
We go on.
Persuaded by those who've made it back to tell their story.
Knowing at the same time that yours will be greater.
If you can live to write it.
Or recite it
and not give in to your vices.
Ha.
But your wrongs make you who you are.
Flawed Perfection at its best.
Letting me know the same blood beats in both of our chests.
We don't fear the journey.
Whatever its pitfalls may be only make us stronger.
What we fear is never trying.
Staring at the sky everyday.
But never flying.
Fuck that.
The distance. They say.
Will kill you.
Be smart and throw in the towel. Disown your vows.
Save the grass for the cows and call it simple.
But they already know.
Bull headed, thus is the zodiac.
You can't pull your soul from the bottom just to throw it back.
No sir.
We don't desire simplicity.
Just to reach where our feet want to take us.
Enjoying the distance. We celebrate it.
The top isn't the top without the bottom.
Success isn't success without failure.
and a list of other quotes.
Prefer turbulence to just staying afloat.
Especially when I put my life into building this boat
Give us the storm.
Tell us we should stay inside where its warm and forget these ambitions.
Obviously,
We don't listen.
Except to our hearts.
The only map I could ask for.
Life's too rich to act poor.
As long as I'm alive for act 4.
I'll be the rolling stone.
Until we're the Rolling Stones.
And I then the journey starts again.
The distance. They said will kill you.
Good thing I brought my good shoes....

& Ignorance looks like......

Wow. Smh.

The making of a classic.

Stumbled up on this. The making of "Sgt.Pepper" considered by many the greatest album of all time. I disagree but it is amazing music, that still astounds today. Its always great to watch the legends talk about making their greatest work and how it comes together.

The longest walk.....

In pursuit......

I digs.

Kid Cudi's "Man on the moon" has been in my headphones pretty much since it dropped. That and Blueprint 3. I remember when I first heard -Day and night- drunk as hell at some party and it was probably one of the hypest drops. The crookers remix. Since then, I've been a fan of Cudi like the rest of us and I'm glad to see the big homie where he's up. See this new generation of ours. Its about being real. Back to the passion. Word.

The Kings last days.....

While I'm not sure about Sony's eagerness to put out some Michael Jackson for profit, I am anxious to see it. Kind of makes me happy to know his last days were spent doing what he loved. I can only wish the same.

What I wish my apt looked like.....

From Cool Hunter:

Designed by Paris-based
KOZ Architects, and coexisting with several older educational buildings and a residential development, the 1,600 square-meter facility is unexpected and bold in its riotous use of colors both inside and out. A more typical an approach for this type of neighborhood would have been a structure that vanishes into its surroundings.

-Purple-

So. Here we are, season 7. Lol, we have a running joke in the crew, sometimes it seems so much random shit happens to us that we might be stuck in some 'truman' esque TV show. But lately things been going good, I just know they can get better. Air Raid has been out, and hopefully those that have downloaded have thoroughly enjoyed it. I put my heart in that project making sure that you guys would enjoy it. The styrofoam cups video has been getting some great feedback as well. We're about to start working on the next one, as soon as I designate what the next song will be. -The shining- seems to be the best canidate. Between receiving good news and bad, between prepping the next music video and wondering if all of what I want is possible, I've started working on the next project. I've talked about "Purple" for a while now. The title alone, should give you an idea of where this going. This project is going to be about the highs, the good ones and the bad ones. As well as focus on the lows. I wanted Air Raid to prove to you guys that I could make good music. I want Purple to take you elsewhere. In person I'm usually quiet because I save my words for my music, but don't let my silence hide my ambitions. I want to give you guys amazing, I want this project to be amazing and as I did with Air Raid, I promise. Dopeness shall ensue. For those of you have been riding with me on this long ride, I appreciate it. Every step is another in uncharted territory, but I know the destination and we still have a ways to go. I want Purple to be more than just a good mixtape. I want it to be something that you guys remember. On some forever shit. So, Someone call Steve at Studio 11, tell him JDP's about to go in....Lol.

Listening to:

VMA'S....

HAHAHAHA!! Tell me you all saw the VMA's last night. Probably one of the best ones I've seen in a long time. It was a good award show in total. Russel Brand is probably the best host they've had for a while because TO ME dude is funny as hell. Also, every outburst from Lil Mama to Kanye made the night. Can't wait to get their.

Fav Performances

Lady Gaga is amazing. Style wise, artist wise. I loves her. Her set was beyond dope. We were definitely LOL'n at the costume changes though.

Jay killed. Theirs enough #LilMamais on twitter. I don't need to say much.

You & Me

A song I wrote maybe 2 years ago. The Gift produced it. Its probably one of my favorite tracks that never made it out there. Sometimes I make these songs so you can dance to them. Sometimes I make them so you can feel something. This one was for me.

Your eyes speak before I do......

I just thought this image was amazing. Her caught me before anything else, and its crazy that with all the color surrounding her, the eyes look sad. Thus is life.

From Cool Hunter:
Françoise Nielly’s massive, colorful portraits are delicious to look at. Even more wonderful – and particularly infuriating to those of us who have timidly dabbled in painting – is to watch her create them. In a beautiful video posted on her site, she, in her confident, strong hand, wields her painting knife shaped like a miniature garden trowel, and makes painting look easy like cake frosting. She paints her vivid, passionate canvases — some as large as 78 x 25 inches (195 x 62 centimeters) -- from black-and-white photos, further proof of her unfailing ability to interpret light, shadow, hue and tone by applying brilliant colors and daring strokes.

King James.......

Can't for this to come out. Lol, I'm sure she's way more excited than me though.

Hov on letterman....

Lmao. "Let's talk about the New Jersy Nets" ..."That was a great segway"

Change is....

Last night the president of the United States made another benchmark speech about Health Care Reform. The day before he talked to the nations schools about why education is important. I don't recall these speeches being made by Bush nor Clinton. Or maybe I just missed something when I was younger. But this past year has seen our president take serious action on the issues at hand and I feel better at night knowing that despite the multiple waves of bullshit he's up against, he's still fighting.

Lost & Found.....

Lost & Found.....Maybe you can help me.
I seem to have lost you.
Misplaced you somewhere between tonight and tomorrow morning.
Between the bedroom and the dancefloor
surrounded by a thousand sounds.
A hundred smiles
From girls I never noticed were beautiful before.
Lights fill the empty spaces between our reflections
and our hearts.
But all I keep thinking is that I want you.
Back.
The familiar find me in this place, caught between enjoying this time
and missing what might never have been mine to begin with.
You've left me here, underneath the camera flashes.
and raised glasses.
Celebration lonely, with a loss for words.
I guess you've taken them with you.
Somewhere between the bottle
and the drink in my hand, I misplaced yours.
And I promise I didn't mean to.
Just got caught in the moment, when the stage meant more.
Than you did.
But I can't be blamed for that, you knew that was bound to happen.
In fact, that's why you came with.
Because I don't deliver the same shit that your use to.
So how could I lose you.
Here.
Where the music pulls strangers into eachother.
If only for a second.
Bodies become closer then friends.
Party.Party.Party
and then it ends.
Wasted.
Comforting confusion surrounds me.
and this where I normally would lose myself
But nows not the time,
not when every face I run into is a pale comparison.
To yours.
Should I just settle then, for a tomorrow filled with questions.
Although these nights tend to never give answers.
Just piffed out rooms with private dancers.
All searching for the same thing.
Maybe your in on it to.
Drifting in and out of these moments
Where the crowd holds more pull than the wall does.
And for 5 minutes its the only place you don't have a wall up.
Thank god for those minutes
I just wish I could spend them with you.
Instead of searching for your replacements.
Who all seem to deliver the same shit that I'm used to.
The same story. On repeat.
You give me something different.
See, Interesting is to small, and Amazing is to grand.
Your right there, in the middle of perfect.
Rare. Aware that your rare.
Something worth searching for.
But its getting harder to find you,
When I'm losing myself.
Somewhere between the last song and the next.
Probably in the same place we split.
Let's hope this isn't permanent.
Though I know we're meant to be one way or the other.
But since both of us are lost.
It might be a little harder
To find eachother......

Party at HoneyPot

Pics from the honeypot party.

Pictures worth a 1000 words....

Love the future.

Life is incredible. What we can do in the span of time we have to exist is amazing, and based mostly on how far we are willing to reach. The problem is a lot of us are to afraid to extend that hand, when the shit is right in front of you. I don't know, maybe I just think differently, I've been forgot about that thing called limits, and I encourage all of us to do the same. So far, things are going pretty good, but good can turn the better, your the type to lose her and I'm the type.....ok, no more drake verses, but seriously..Me and T just got back home to Chicago from LA and for my first serious out of town trip it was definitely dope. From getting front row seats to see George Clinton perform to linking up with the IM KING crew. Every moment was an event, each event is just another part of the story. So far the book is reading pretty well, -AIR RAID- has been getting a lot of positive feedback, and I appreciate everyone downloading it. Even the criticism has been constructive and in the CHI that's rare. Lol. The music video for -Styrofoam Cups- has been getting tons of love as well, we put a lot into that video and wanted to give you guys a dope visual to go with the song, I think we succeeded. Currently its back to business, with me and Flow performing this Friday at the Funky Buddha Lounge. The night we got back to the GO I hit up studio 11 and banged out a few joints, back to the pen and pad to start working on the next project. We're about to start working in the next video for -AIR RAID-. Just good things, I keep hearing lust for life in my head. Probably because I listened to it as the plane took off for Cali and as it landed back home. I'm nowhere near where I want to be. I'm in the lobby right now, trying to make it to the penthouse, but I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. We all are, its already known, we got this. Love the future, its ours......

Probably the illest promo video I've seen in a minute. Hov recreates every albume cover from his previous 10. My favorites have always been *Reasonable Doubt *Blueprint *Black Album, let's see if this one joins the fray. So far, I've been hearing nothing but mixed opinions. 9/11 We'll know for sure.
