We are not losers.

We are lasers.

R.I.P Michael Jackson. Forever the King.

R.I.P to Michael Jackson, the king of music. period. TO ME.

My mother was 22 years old when she had me in 1987. She was a teenager when Michael became a superstar and a true child of the 80's. Michael was on his Bad stage but Thriller was a permanent fixture in my house. In the 80's, Michael was king, and my childhood memories consist of jordans, Hi-top fades, ghost busters, and Michael Jackson music. Whenever a MJ event was on television me and my mother would watch it. I remember hours spent trying to get the dance moves down, the moonwalk, the spin, kick-pop move he used to pull, even the joint when he stood on his toes. I didn't have a fedora when I saw the "smooth criminal video" so I made a imaginary one out of baseball caps and best believe I rocked the glove, socks, penny loafer combo for a holloween. As a child, your parents heroes become your own and no one was more prominent to not only my family, but to the world then Mike.

I grew up performing Michael Jackson songs to my family during holidays. We'd all get together, eat, talk, laugh, celebrate and then me and my cousins would perform. It's been different songs through the years but we'd always find our way back to Michael. Whether it was the thriller routine, beat it, or smooth criminal, or the whole damn moonwalker. Lol, Michael Jackson made me want to be a performer in the first place. His music and energy is the reason why I grew up to be who I am honestly. I can't sing like Michael but the passion to create great music, and share it with the world, being the best artist you could be all of those qualities I get from MJ. The funny thing is I'm not really alone in this aspect.

Every major pop artist from Madonna to Usher, to Justin to Chris Brown to Kanye to Jay to every artist that we look to today got it from Michael. The first of his kind, he revelutionized the music industry, what it meant to be a artist in the modern era and it just seems like we've been looking for a replacement but we all know we never will. We just accept the closest possible thing. Who do you know? With the biggest selling album of all time, most recognized and popular artist in the world.ever. Who do you know? single-handidly changed and shaped culture to fit their terms instead of the other way around. Who do you know? broke every rule and standard and reshaped them. Its kind of sad today that the younger kids, younger than me, only know Michael Jackson as a freak show, as that weird alien looking guy that the papers are always talking about. But in the same hand I bet those kids know a song off of thriller.

I never cared about accusations, or the extra shit because I've always been a fan of Michael Jackson the artist. My grandmothers had Elvis, Sinatra, the beatles. My mother had Michael but the difference is we all had Michael because once he dropped it was ever lasting. EVERYONE knows the name, face, and a song of MJ, that's not for no reason. He gave us one of the greates peices of music in history and inspired millions of kids to strive for something bigger than themselves, and go for whatever their dreams were. When I heard Mike had died, I didn't believe it. It was through a text, 1. 2, it was motherfucking Michael Jackson, he just doesn't die. But incredibly, it was true, sadly. I called my mother later that night and we talked for a minute, because he meant alot to both of us. Two individual childhoods that span generations, because my little sister knows Michael Jackson. My 1 year old nephew will know who Michael Jackson is because even though he is gone, his music, his spirit, his influence lives forever.

I've spent my songwriting life thus far trying to capture the engery of "Billy Jean" I've always thought it was the perfect song.

Now that he's gone, what do we do? Do we spit on his legacy? Do we quickly put the crown on somebody else's head or do we accept the fact that their will never. never. Be another Michael Jackson and that the rest of us are just feathers on the wings. Thank you Michael, for all the inspiration. I can only strive to be as great, but I won't be anywhere close.

Rest in peace. Michael.

Every Girl in the world......

We like her. We like her too.
Every Girl remix w/C.Rich, T, Mike Sheilds & Me. Peep here

As the world changes.....

I turn on the tv, and flick to the news and right now all what's going on is incredible. Iran is going through some serious changes right now. Its easy to tell that chance at a democratic election was robbed right from under them and I understand their anger. It's inspiring to watch these people fight for what they believe in and even more inspiring to know that this marks a shift in the thoughts of the middle east question. Because as we're seeing Iran now, a difference can be made.

What they won't show you on the news.....

"OK, let me see if I've got this right. Since Barack Obama has taken the presidential oath of office we have witnessed: a) Hezbollah lose a shoo-in election in Lebanon, b) Pakistan begin serious efforts to control the Taliban and al Qaeda elements inside its borders, c) Netanyahu of Israel mumble support about a two state solution and rethink settlements and, d) A major awakening of the Iranian citizenry against the heavy-handedness of the mullahs. What hasn't changed? The simple-minded thuggery of the Right when it comes to foreign policy (and Grover Norquist, someone should gently remind him that it's 2009, not 1989). They have long preferred a modified Teddy Roosevelt approach. Speak loudly and wail away with the biggest stick you can find. I don't know if all this is the results of one speech in Cairo by the President but if it is I hope he gives a second, and soon," - Carl Owen, Politico.

I so need her in my life.....

6/20/09 until Hello World.....

Well. Well. Is it our little author.

It's been 3 years in the making but it's finally here. -AIR RAID- will be ready for world consumption saturday, and as I promised to Drew on fakeshoredrive.com it's dope. You guys know I'm not one for self-praise(lol) but I honestly think that this is something you'll want to keep on repeat. When me and Jay started Flyy City we wanted to create music that lasted, I've never wanted to make a song that you loved and then forgot about it the next day. Everytime I go into the studio I want to craft something great. I'm not saying I'm going to change the world with this tape but I am going to give you a reason to believe, to watch and to listen because "Where anything goes" was the handshake, "Air Raid" is the conversation. I wanted to take you on a ride with this project and I made every song to fit a different mood, or emotion, or moment. I'm not just rapping to hear myself rhyme although I will kill any beat you put in front of me, I'm in it to make great music that people can dig and relate too, and I think I accomplished that with this project. But of course, that's for you guys to decide. Shout out to everyone who was apart of this project.

Sexy Images of the day...

Image number 1. Minus Kanye, this is probably one of the sexiest pictures I've seen. Reasons, Madonna, POP Icon in every way. In her late 40's-early 50's(not sure) but more flexible then some girls I went to high school with, same amount of energy. Amber Rose, sex symbol and just a dope chick and xtra milkshake thick. Madonnas hand on Amber Rose's ass in a situation where they all look drunk and I really wish I was Kanye at that moment.
Christina Milian in Maxim. Enough said.

Don't test me y****!

Ok, tell me this video isn't the least bit funny. But what I'm worried about is how much of a parody T-Pain has become, although I'm sure he'll drop another song that'll make us all head back to the club but at the same time it's like POP culture is now on parody mode when it comes to auto-tune and Hip Hop (sans DOA) is trying to get away from it. I'm still rocking with it though, just know when I use it it's gonna fit. and not because I couldn't think of anything else to go in the hook.

Heartless......

Heartless.

Not in my chest, it's much to big to fit there.
My lungs have a tough enough time trying squeeze in the air without you taking up space.
Nor on my sleeve which is already cluttered with other emotions
and button shirts.
No I'd much rather place you within my words.
It's easier to find meaning there, and exist with purpose.
In some transcendent space where people will remember what they saw.
And hope that you spread.
I place you in my words because they unlike my sleeves mean the most.
They are what keep me from going insane and drive me
Similar to what you do, but I feel you need to be relocated.
Paired up, the two of you together.
Unstoppable (c) santigold.
World leaders and legends have done the same so I feel like I'm in good company.
I know, I've disowned you in the past, denied your existence.
Refused to believe you belonged to me.
I left you when she left me, out to dry, on a rope somewhere.
Couldn't care.
Had no use for you really, placed you in a jar and myself in bar.
Wondering why it all never felt the same.
Voided spaces with no traces of what was there before.
I preferred you in a closet somewhere behind a door.
Even when you were needed.
Or somebody pleaded for you to show up
I wouldn't allow it.
But I see what the problem is, or was. I just didn't know what to do with you.
How to adapt because the old format wasn't working.
I apologize.
Reboot.
So here we are, finally found you a home, long overdue.
I think you'll do good here, amongst the most cherished.
Amongst the reason I need the chest space to breath in the first place.
You should feel honored really, if not than silly me
Perhaps I should've left you in that half eaten philly cheese
But I figured you deserved to be here.
You do.
Nothing besides these lines comes between me and you
Another wise decision.
Whether or not you believe me, we win in the end regardless
Because when their unable to find you inside my cold carcass
My words will still survive
and they won't be able to say I was, heartless....

Not by me, but def worth a read.....

Little girls/Big girls
By:DeShara Suggs Joe

I see little girls
that turn into big girls
who only care about how their apple bottom fits
barely passed high school
but sit on their stoops so pretty
waiting for their chance out the hood
with the local hood star

I see little girls
that turn into big girls
with no self esteem
fucking for love
that will never come
living inside a broken dream

I see little girls
that turn into big girls
with so much hate in their heart
the only thing that makes them smile
is seeing another person cry

I am the little girl
that turned into a big girl
always holding on to big dreams
temptation always around the corner
making plans with the devil to destroy
but God saved me

cracked out mamas
and long gone daddies
should not be deciding factors
for little girls

sex too soon
water broke
boom
another little girl born
to repeat a broken cycle
where making it out
seems like a fantasy
so easy to conform
to what live has handed you

but little girl
you are a shining star
pay more attention to history
instead of what is on 106 and park

a dream deferred is still a dream

The Flavor

STARTER DJ'S "THE FLAVOR"

One of the dopest remix projects I've heard, and I'm not just saying that because I'm featured on it. With remixes from everyone from Hey Champ to Bullet to Lady Sovereign this project is definitely worth the download. Club Heads wet dream I say..

AIR RAID -6/20/09

Air Raid is almost finished, right now we're just going through the mixing process and adding some last minute touches here and there. I want to say thank you to everyone for participating on the project with me and I hope that all of you dig it. I wanted to take you guys on a journey with this one and I hope you all enjoy the ride. I'm excited for the project and trust me when I tell you its gonna be crazy. This year so far has been a good one and I hope this project will prove to live up to the future I've laid out for myself. Production wise, The Bartendaz handle the bulk as well as a few of my favorite instrumentals. Feature wise, it's gonna be crazy, I'll wait to hit you guys with the track listing. Shout out to the fam @ IM KING for co presenting this project. So peep the date, and I look forward to sharing my music with you.

Peace.

Priceless.......

I would've hoped to see Kobe vs Lebron in the finals but I'll settle for watching the Lakers scrape the magics. It's not as exciting but Nike is going to have fun putting the commercials together. This one, is as the title suggests, priceless.

Jay-Z & WGCI......

Jay-Z speaks to Chicago's WGCI

I heard this record the other day and had mixed feelings. I don't think its the greatest Jay record of all time but I do feel like its epic. In the fact that its Jay's first indie "Rolling Stones" record. The man is a legend and I feel like he'll go down as the Mick Jagger of the game. Take that as an insult if you wish but to me its a compliment. As far as the topic, I don't feel like he was coming at the Tpain's or the Ye's or the Wayne's just the cats who have used it in an overabundance and no reason. If you feel offended by the song then maybe you were suppose to, but personally I'm just looking forward to The Blueprint 3....

Artistry by Pharrell..........

Pharrell talks about the music industry and being an artist in todays game.

Seriously. Its Love.

Lady Gaga "Paparazzi"

I don't think I need to repeat myself but on the Pop level, I think Lady Gaga is tops. This song is another hit and I love how for each song she creates amazingly creative/eye catching videos. Luv.

Birthday Sex.

Jermih "Birthday Sex"

Congrats to the homie. I saw him on 106 & Park and this song is probably the hottest R&B joint of the summer.

Classic!!! Renegade!!!

This is classic for a number of reasons TO ME.

1. Blueprint is arguably my favorite Hip Hop album by my favorite Hip Hop Artist.
2. Renegade is one of the dopest joint because 2 of my great 5 list combine to make something so serious.
3. As far as I know this is the first time they've performed this song and its cold because Em has just come out of retirement while Jay isn't planning on it.
4. This just looks as official as it needs to be.
Illy.

Congratulations to the kings!!

so sexy. lol

The homies @ IM KING celebrated their 2 year anniversery in cali. I want my bday cake to look just as dope as....
